WFAE, the NPR news station in Charlotte, NC, is looking for a daily newscaster and host to anchor our midday news coverage. This person will be responsible for top-of-the-hour newscasts from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday-Friday, and produce segments for local cutaways during Here & Now. We want a robust news presence throughout the afternoon the successful applicant will play a very visible role in achieving this goal. The person will also serve as WFAE’s primary backup host for Morning Edition and be trained to host other programs, including weekends.
Requirements for this position include a bachelor’s degree and/or at least three years experience in broadcast journalism, including time as a host or anchor. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail are crucial to be successful in this position. Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter, and also must work well with others in a team environment.
