PRNDI is very excited to partner with member station WLRN on our annual conference set for June 23 & 24 in Miami at The Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort. Pre-conference training will take place June 21 & 22.
The board met in early January in Miami and came up with an exciting agenda for the conference, which will include a celebration of editors in public media newsrooms. An expanded pre-conference editor training is in the works, along with sessions on transitioning reporters to an editor role and editing collaborations as well as a keynote on the importance of editing. PRNDI will also introduce an “Editor of the Year” award to be presented to a member station editor nominated by his or her peers. Details to come on how to nominate someone for the award.
PRNDI’s News Manager Training program will also be held during the pre-conference training period on Wednesday and Thursday. Also in the works: an environmental reporting training that we hope will be a field study in the wilds of South Florida. Other session being planned include: managing newsroom workflow, gaining trust and access in underserved communities, making digital a priority in your newsroom and producing real news in an era of fake news. A full conference agenda will be available in April.
The conference will conclude with the presentation of PRNDI’s awards. The deadline to enter this year’s awards competition is March 1, 2017. More information will be available soon under the awards tab at www.prndi.org.
Don’t miss the conference that serves public media journalists. See you in Miami in June.
