New York's WFUV Seeks Grad Assistants

WFUV-FM (Bronx, NY) is offering 3 graduate assistantship awards, starting in Fall 2012.

Successful candidates (3) will have been accepted into the M.A. Program in Public Communications at Fordham University and will be offered a part-time position in one of the following areas:

·             Producer position for the station’s public affairs program, Cityscape. Requires strong research, interview and writing skills. Prior reporting and/or audio production experience a big plus. Must be a team player and have a keen interest in immersing yourself into New York City history and culture.

·             Editor/Anchor/Reporter for WFUV Newsroom. Requires strong broadcast and on-line editing, writing and production skills, advanced organizational abilities and excellent follow through. Strong, conversational on-air presence.  Must have strong mentoring ability to work with our undergraduate reporting staff.

·             Producer position in WFUV’s Music Department. Requires knowledge or contemporary music and AAA format, advanced organizational abilities, and excellent follow through. Audio production or radio experience a plus.  

·             Web Developer position for wfuv.org and thealternateside.org - Help WFUV continue development of our online and mobile efforts. We run Drupal web sites with open source tools. Projects vary, but there is always a healthy list of creative ideas. The position provides hands-on experience for the person who's not afraid to confront technical challenges and dream up elegant solutions.

Further requirements include strong GRE scores, a 3.2 G.P.A, and a distinguished undergraduate record. The assistantship can carry a full tuition scholarship to complete MA studies (12 months) and a stipend of $21,400 for a 20-hour work week at WFUV-FM during the academic year.
