PRNDI Board of Directors
Conference
4:30 pm
Mon May 21, 2012
Don't be a Lonesome Dove....
PRNDI veterans understand much of their work is done outside conference rooms, in buffet lines and while standing at the bar. Our annual conference allows news managers to mix. At the very least, they get some sympathy. At best, they go home with a new perspective on an old problem. Some even find a new job.
It’s easy for old timers like Tripp Sommer of KLCC in Eugene, Oregon, who’s been with PRNDI since the 1980s. Not so easy for newcomers, like Kenny Colston, who’s Kentucky Public Radio’s new statehouse bureau chief. So, for the new folks, you might not want to miss “The First Rodeo.”
It’s an informal mixer for PRNDI’s tenderfoots; those news managers making their first trip to an annual conference. You’ll be hosted by our newest board members; Bob Beck, who’s the News Director at Wyoming Public Radio, and Charles Compton, who’s News Director at WEKU Radio in Richmond, Kentucky.
You’ll learn about PRNDI’s history, our organization and our mission. Plus, you’ll meet folks like yourself, new to PRNDI and who would enjoy the company of other newcomers as the conference proceeds.
After, we’re done, we head over with the rest of the PRNDI membership to Minute Maid Park for a game between Houston’s Astros and the San Diego Padres. Information about our “First Rodeo” mixer will be available when you check-in for the conference.
