Colorado Public Radio News seeks a Government Reporter to join an award-winning team of beat reporters.
The Government Reporter has a passion for tracking government at all levels and unearthing the unexpected stories of how national, state and local government impacts the Colorado community. This is the ultimate watchdog position. The Government Reporter will cover everything from elections to the legislative session to enterprise investigations. This person is a storyteller who finds the universal connections that demonstrate how government intersects with the lives of people across the state. They will produce daily news stories and enterprise features for radio, digital and social media platforms. This position requires paying attention to city and county agendas, government agencies, and covering the state legislative issues . Knowledge of investigative practices that include accessing documents and filing open records requests preferred. .

- Identification with the mission and purpose of Colorado Public Radio.
- Minimum of 5 years journalism experience.
- Broadcast experience required, public radio experience ideal.
- High-level writing and editing skills, demonstrated ability to identify key developments and distill complex matters.
- Able to work collaboratively, meet deadlines, juggle multiple tasks.
Position is based in Denver and requires working non-standard hours and some travel.
