Terry Gildea

Executive Director

Over a six year period, he expanded the staff from 2 to 8 full time beat reporters and hosts. Before working at KUER, he spent  four and a half years at KSTX in San Antonio as a reporter and talk show host. He covered military medicine for NPR’s Impact of War Project. Prior to his position in San Antonio, Terry covered Congress for two years with Capitol News Connection. Most recently, Terry was program director at KLCC in Eugene, Oregon.  His work has been recognized by RTDNA, SPJ, The Texas AP Broadcasters and The Houston Press Club. Terry holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Ways to Connect

We’re all excited about next summer’s PRNDI conference in Salt Lake City, but it’s already time to start exploring sites for the PRNDI conferences in 2016 and 2017.

Our conference this past summer in Washington, DC was a fantastic success.  In previous years we partnered with local member stations WCPN and Ideastream in Cleveland and KUHF in Houston for great conference experiences as well.

Stations that partner with PRNDI to help host conferences have no financial commitment to the organization.  The conferences are self-supporting, but having a partnership with a member station on the ground in a host city connects the planning committee with top hotels, caterers and special activities that offer unique insight into the host city’s culture.  In Houston we watched the Astros play the San Diego Padres at Minute Maid Park and in Cleveland we had an amazing night at the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame (an exclusive private event for PRNDI members).

Texas Public Radio (KSTX) in San Antonio is seeking a qualified individual to manage the station's local news department.

Introductions are always a good place to start. I’m News Director at KUER in Salt Lake City and I have the privilege of managing a talented staff of 5 reporters and hosts. PRNDI Members at this year’s conference approved a motion to expand the governing board by one additional “At Large” representative and voters elected me to that post.  The greatest part about this position is that I’m not replacing any of the very talented members of the board.  I’m here to contribute and continue making PRNDI an organization that lives up to its expectations.
